So why am I depressed? Am I saddened because I feel used again. I open my home to another person, someone I saw real hope in, and in the end I get screwed. I go from having a best friend with whom I can share everything openly without the fear of being judged to having no one by my side overnight. I had someone who I was going to face sobriety with and now I face it alone. I had a strong female in my house controlling her ex’s powers over her and then a second later, I have a female leaving my house going home to get her beating. Before, she would’ve stayed with me knowing the latter was the bad choice. Now she leaves. Everything we talked about over the past 2 months she lived with me, how she wanted to change, has all disappearred. Was all this said to just have a roof over her head.

Or am I depressed because my life now feels empty? The void that once existed was replaced by her smiling face and her leaving me has brought back that void. Her company kept me sane. I never feel in love with her but I loved her. Did I depend on her company way too much? If I never knew her the way I did, she would have been the perfect girlfriend. But because we became so close, she became the perfect friend. I pictured her overcoming her problems with her ex and finding someone new. I pictured me meeting a female and bringing her home for her approval. Her at my side when I wed and me at hers when she wed. I have never been so close to someone so soon. It hurts to have lost that friendship faster than I gained it.

Maybe this is a phase for me. I know I am not suicidal because of my withdrawals. I know I am sad because I have no one by my side. This was to be a joint adventure. It’s bad enough to have to face this alone but the lose of a great friend only adds to the depression brought on by sobriety. FUCK ME!!! I need someone by my side.

So here’s some pics of where I am at with the kitchen. Actually, I am farther along than the pictures show but it’s too damn early to look for the camera BUT I will take new pics sometime today. Also realized I should’ve taken some before shots…DUMBASS!

Makeover

So I have 4 weeks off from school. Idle hands are the devil’s playground. Rather than risk falling back into bad habits, I’ve decided to occupy myself by giving my kitchen a complete makeover. About a month or two ago, I dropped in new wood panel flooring. Problem was that now the floor looked ill while the rest of the kitchen was whack.

So, I’m gonna finish what I started. Redoing my countertops. Going from fake wood to tile. Also planning on painting the kitchen from wall to ceiling and back. While removing and sanding down some uneven spots, I discovered some mold behind the 20 or so years of wallpaper. This big job just got bigger. I’ll post some pics up soon so you can see the mess.

As of late, I have found myself gravitating more towards the sounds of Electro based tracks. I don’t know what it is but that Deep Soulful music doesn’t do it for me anymore. Maybe it’s just a phase but nowadays, I try to just go with the flow instead of fighting it, and by it I mean anything.

Don’t get me wrong. I still listen to deep soulful mixes posted by others on the net but I just can’t seem to get into mixing the stuff. I LOVE to rock out and dance while I spin and that electro sound makes me do just that.

I just finished a mix not more that 30 minutes ago. I’m gonna listen to it and if it sounds decent, I might post it up.

We’re always told that it’s bad to enjoy the misfortune of others. Sorry, but today, I can’t help it. A friend of mine was in need of some cash so he sold me a brand spanking new 750 GB Maxtor OneTouch 4 Plus for $60. I felt like I was jacking the guy so I threw in an extra $20. I know…not much but any little bit helps him out. Besides, it’s all I had.

Time Saver

Don’t you just love it when one of your RSS feeds sends you somewhere else that you know that never in a 1000 years would you have found that other site on your own? Better yet, this site, that you couldn’t have discovered on your own, ends up being the answer to a HUGE problem you face on a regular basis. Happened for me today!

Problem:

When I work on projects, I waste countless hours searching for resources. Most of the time, if I can make the resource myself, I will. I’ll go out there and take my own pictures. I’ll make my own brush or texture. But every now and then I have the need for something that I can’t make on my own and I have to hit the web and search through countless sites in hopes that I find the one I need. Even worse, while going through these sites, something will catch my attention and then I’ll go off on a tangent and lose my concentration.

Solution:

I found a HUGE timesaver thanks to PSD Tuts’ article on the Best of the Web March Roundup. They introduced me to the Design Ressources Search Engine made by Sacha Greif’s and found on his blog. Sacha explains:

What’s a Custom Search Engine (CSE) you ask ? Basically it’s a set of guidelines that tell Google which websites to search through and what to look for. Ever wanted a way to search for that perfect photoshop brush across multiple websites at once, but not waste time sifting through paint supplies websites ?

THIS THING KICKS MAJOR NALGAS!!! That’s ass for our non-speaking friends. This search tool scans some of the sites I already hit and introduced me to ones I never knew of. No more hours spent going from site to site and pasting my text into the search field. No more asking myself “What happened to the last 3 hours?” only to realize that I went off on a tangent…again. Started off looking for brushes and ended up reading an article on human rights depicted in art…DAMN YOU INTERESTING LINKS!

Maybe know I can actually create with going off into the nether regions of the internet.
